January's Nails Challenge - Ice or Silver nails

How is your Saturday going, so far? ^_^

Mine is going great, I'm relaxing at home, reading blog posts and eating chocolate, what could be better? Speaking of blog posts, this week our challenge goes on with another winter inspired theme - Ice or Silver nail. It was a pretty tough one for me, and I've gotten a bit bored of silver since all my last manicures were in that color, but this is what I came up with:

I used a nude base this time, because I got sick of white, as well, and painted icicles using the waterfall technique - you know the drill: fine lines using a thin brush. ^_^

For the other two nails, I used a blue polish with silver glitter, over which I applied a clear top coat that contained shattered glass glitter particles. It kinda looked like ice floating on water, in my opinion.

The nail polishes I used are:
  • Lovely Nude 1 - as a base;  I bought it from DM when they had discounts, but it's very sheer so I needed 3-4 coats for it to be opaque
  • Astor Laque Deluxe 595 VIP Silver - for the icicles
  • Astor Quick&Shine 604 Midnight Blue - for the icicles and on the other nails, as a base
  • Avon Magic Effects Diamond Shatter - as a top coat over the blue nails

That's about all I had to say about my nails today, I hope you like them and I'm looking forward to reading your opinions in the comments section. Please visit the other blogs and take a look at what the girls have on their nails this week:
