Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 33. New Year Party

Last post this year, last post during the marathon!

I'll make this post super short cause we're expecting guests over for New Year's. The theme was Claudia's choice (see what I did there? :D ) and it couldn't have been a better idea!

Here is what I came up with:

Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 32. Wrapping paper or ornaments

Hello, hello! ^_^

We've almost reached the end of our Marathon, I can see the finish line, and I'm kinda sad about it. I'm glad that I managed to participate each week and didn't skip any of the challenges and this week is no exception. Mihaela asked us to ornate our nails with ornaments or a wrapping paper pattern and here is my idea:

Winter Magic

Hello, everyone!
It's the day before Christmas and I wanted to mark the day with a winter themed manicure that also has a little magic! ^_^
It's been a full week for me, but a very lovely one. I met with friends, spent time with the people that matter to me and, to top it all, I received this lovely gift from my Secret Santa, Alina from http://justanangel.net. :D

Since the gift was so awesome and everything was chosen to suit my tastes, I couldn't wait to try my new "toys". ^_^ Here is the first result:

Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 31. Drip Nails

Are you ready for some Christmas themed nails? :D

Today we have a new new theme, this time "blame" Mihaela for the idea: drip nails! I've never tried this technique (properly) before, but I haven't done it today, either, haha! As usual, I adapted the theme to my preferences, and here you go... a dalmatian celebrating Christmas:

Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 30.Sugar Spun

Hello, happy people!

Christmas is coming very soon and so it the end of our Marathon. For the next few weeks I will try to bring a bit of Christmas in each of my manicures and bring joy to you all. :D

This week's theme was sugar spun, one of my favorite techniques and I decided to try it in two ways: normal and for a pattern. Here is the result:

Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 29. Favorite Song

Hello, hello!

December is the first month of Winter and this, along with Mada's idea are what inspired me to do this manicure. :D

The song I chose is one of my all-time favorite songs: Frozen by Celldweller:

Fist time I heard this song was in 2008 and I fell in love with it instantly. It's so dark and mysterious and sexy! Needless to say, I know the lyrics by heart, he he.

1 Decembrie - Ziua Nationala a Romaniei

Hello!

Today is Romania's National Day and this is the first time I'm doing my nails for this event. I'm not a nationalist or anything similar, but I do like my country and, due to some changes going on in the political field, I kinda felt the need to express something with my nails, using the colors of our flag: red, yellow and blue.

Here's a little bit of history from Wikipedia:

"Great Union Day (Romanian: Ziua Marii Uniri, also called Unification Day[1]) occurring on December 1, is the national holiday of Romania. It commemorates the assembly of the delegates of ethnic Romanians held in Alba Iulia, which declared the Union of Transylvania with Romania.

This holiday was set after the Romanian Revolution and it marks the unification of Transylvania, but also of the provinces of Bessarabia and Bukovina with the Romanian Kingdom, in 1918."

Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 27.Jelly Sandwich

Hello, hello!

A new week, a new post and another manicure which I hope you will like! :D
This time, Kinga thought that we should try using the jelly sandwich technique on our nails and we all obeyed with no hesitation. :D

Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 27.Chevron Manicure

Hello, everyone!

This week I'm finally on time and I'm showing you my "glamorous" nails, made using the Chevron style, which was Kinga's idea. The manicure was done using a textured polish which I really like - Avong: Mineral Crush in the Pearl shade and one of my newest acquisitions - Vollare Color City 346.

Born Pretty Store - Stamping Plate, Stamper and Stamping Polish Review

Hello, everyone!

Today I made a review for three products from Born Pretty Store, my little "stamping kit" as I got to call it. :D

To be honest, it's all you need to get started with stamping, something that I'm rather new at, as well. The items are: the BP-03 stamping plate (which I've wanted since forever!), Kand - special nail polish for stamping and the stamper I got from Oana for my b'day.

This is the plate I've wanted the most from all the BPS stamping plates. It's so lovely! I like the roses, the cats, and, most of all, the swirly design. <3

As with the other BPS stamping plates that I own ( you can see the review here) it was super easy to use. The pattern transferred perfectly onto the stamper and then onto my nail. Cleaning it was very easy, as well, and I was impressed by how easy stamping can be with a high-quality plate.

The plate is listed under the name: Black Cat & Rose Theme Nail Art Stamp Template Image Plate and you can buy it for $2.24 on www.bornprettystore.com.

The first time I tried stamping I used some think nail polishes, which were recommended to me by others. They worked fine so I thought that a good stamping polish must be a little thicker than regular polish. When I opened this bottle I noticed that the polish was very liquid and I thought to myself - is this any good?
I pushed it aside for a while but decided to try it in the end. I couldn't have been more wrong about it! Even though the consistency is thin, the polish is highly pigmented and great for stamping!

This nail polish is, indeed, the best I've tried for stamping, so far, but I also found something about it that I did not like as much - it stains the skin. My fingers were blue after I used it and acetone could not remove it at all. Only after I had washed my hands for 3-4 times the color disappeared.

Still, I will use it again, and you can find it on the website under the name: 10ml High Quality Nail Art Template Stamping Polish Varnish, for $3.35.

Ok, so, I have nothing to say about this stamper but "WOW"! It's really great! It has two gummy sides, a big white one - very soft and perfect for full nail patterns, and a tiny, rubbery one - ideal for tiny designs.

This made stamping so much fun! It's easy to use, easy to clean and gets the pattern from the stamping plate and onto the nail perfectly. I'm honestly considering buying a few more, just in case, haha!

You can find it on the website, in the Nail Art section, under this name: 3Pcs/Set Hot-sell Double Sided Stamping Nail Art Stamper & Scraper and for only $2.94. I highly recommend you buy it!

If you're interested in buying any of these items, or, anything else related to nail art (and more), please visit the website at www.bornprettystore.com and fill your cart with joy and items! Shipping is free, worldwide! ^_^

Also, don't forget! If you use this code: QYL91, you get 10% off for your purchase!

Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 26. One Stroke

Two posts in one day??? OMG! Is it Christmas?
Meh, no, not yet... Just me running late...

As I previously said (in the other blog post) both manicures are Teo's suggestions. :D
I finally came around to doing a manicure using the one-stroke technique and my conclusion is: it's not even that hard to paint! (using the correct brush, of course). ^_^

Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 25. Inspired by a movie

Hello, hello!

This week you get a double portion of nail art from me since I missed last week's challenge. My reasons were good, I promise.
First of all, I went home to see my pets and parents over the weekend, so I didn't have time to do my nails and second, it was pretty much my "Birthday week" so I didn't even have time to breathe. ^_^

But, enough with the excuses. This week I'm going to show you two manicures which were suggested by Teo: movie & one-stroke.
Here is my movie-inspired manicure:

Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 24.French

Hello!

How was your week so far?
Mine was super busy. I had a lot to do and so little time! But I couldn't skip the nail art marathon so here's this week's theme: French, Andreia's idea.

I stuck to the classic type of french, but I made it colorful and, since I wore it the week before Halloween, of course, it was Halloween themed.

Halloween Nails

Boo!

Are you ready for another dose of spooky nails? >:)

This time I'm going to show you my "Bloody Mummies" with glow-in-the-dark eyes, the manicure I'm going to wear on my nails tonight, as well. Even though I have one more Halloween manicure in store for you, which will be presented on the blog tomorrow, this is the most special one to me.

Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 23.Tribal Print

Greetings, fellow nail art lovers!

This week I don't want to bore you with words so my descriptions will be short. I have a spooky Halloween-themed with tribal influences to show you, my nails being based on Deyutza's first proposal for the marathon: tribal print.

Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 22.Blobbicure

A new week, a new manicure! :D

This week theme's a combination between Andreea's idea - blobbicure, and my enthusiasm regarding Halloween and everything related to this celebration. :P

Nail Art Marathon - 21.Inspired by your favorite game

Hello nail art lovers!

This week the blogs will be filled with cute characters, pretty colors and, possibly, nostalgia, since Andreea suggested we represent our favorite games on our nails. ^_^

My all time favorite game is Sims (2 & 4) got me hooked, but besides the plum-bob and the logo, I did not know what to do on my nails so I searched for another game. My second option was the board-game named "Cluedo" but that is a little too scary to represent on my nails before Halloween, so I thought to myself, "what did I like playing with as a child?". The answer was "Barbie dolls, of course" but I have done Barbie themed nails a while back so I needed something new. And then it hit me: LEGO! :D

I've seen interpretations for LEGO nails on other blogs before and I always thought that the idea was pretty cute so I went with it. Here is my interpretation for "LEGO nails":

Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 20. Dotted Manicure

Post 201! WoooHooo!!!! :D

If you think you have a ophthalmic problem and see dots everywhere, fear not, it's just our new theme during the Nail Art Marathon - dots! :D
Alina came up with this idea and I wanted to make it special, since it's been a while since I drew something more complex on my nails. ^_^

Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 19. Waterfall Nails

Hello, nail lovers!

Yes, I'm late, I know, but if you had my schedule and my type of internet connection, you'd understand... So, sorry, it might be this way for a while... :/

Aaaaanyway, this week's theme is Alina's idea and is one of my favorites from the marathon. I've been wanting to do a waterfall manicure for a very long time and now I *finally* had the chance. :D

Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 18. Saran Wrap

Another week, another theme! This time we have another one of Iulia B.'s ideas - saran wrap.
I have tried this technique before, and, you can actually find a tutorial posted by Laula on our Facebook page.

What I like most about saran wrap is that you can get unique designs every time, even form one nail to the other and you can create both funky and elegant manicures. Mine is a bit of both, and you'll see why if you look down. ^_^

Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 17. Animal Print

Ssssssss... Sssss...
Do you hear that too? It's such a weird sound...

Ssssss.... Ssss...Ah, yessss! I know what it is! It's my animal print manicure for this week's theme! Iulia B should be thrilled with the zoo she's created in the nail art blog space! :)))

As you've probably guessed already, this week's nails are inspired by snake skin and, because I wouldn't be myself if I wouldn't alter the theme a bit, my personal touch - the Slytherin logo (any Harry Potter fans here?). :D

Nail Art Marathon - 16. Geometric

Hello, hello!

This week I don't have much to say about my nails except that I'm still wearing the same manicure for over a week and I don't wanna clean my nails anytime soon... I'm in love (?) with my nails!

The week's theme is "geometric" and the idea belongs to Rita. At first the theme seemed boring to me. I thought of doing something minimalist on my nails, like a cube or a pyramid, but after doing some research on Google, I got my tape and sponges out and this is the result:

Aug 29, 2015

Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 15. Dolphins, whales or favorite water animal

Hey there!

This post is online pretty late, but I managed to write it on time, yay!
The weekly theme is Rita's idea and it pretty much concludes the series of summer manicures for the marathon. I'm a little sad that summer is ending, but I'm super happy that the weather will change.

Anyway, back to nails... This time, since the theme was so rich, I chose to draw jellyfish on my tiny nails. ^_^

Aug 22, 2015

Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 14. Velvet Nails

"OMG! Sooo fuzzy!" was the reaction of my friends when I met them, wearing velvet nails. :P

The theme was chosen by me and, at that time I was thinking I could do a cute design using velvet powder on my super long nails. Well, bummer. Since my nails broke, I had to come up with another idea and I played with colors instead of shapes.

Aug 15, 2015

Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 13. Beach Scene

Woohoo! I made it on time for my own theme! Hahaha!

Ok, so, as you can see, this week I had the privilege to choose the theme and I decided to suggest that the girls have beach scenes on their nails. Originally, my idea was to paint a beautiful sunset on the beach with two lovers looking at it, but since my nails are half the size they were when I thought of that I had to change it.

I still couldn't let my short nails appear on my blog right at this moment so I filed some plastic tips to match my nails and I painted on them instead. ^_^

Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 12. Rainbow Nails

Hello, nail art lovers! :D

This week's post is late, as well, but I promise to be on time tomorrow and the weeks that will come. The "rainbow nails" idea belongs to Iulia and I chose to interpret it a little different and more glittery. :D

Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 11. Sea Shells

Hey everyone!

Sorry for the late post! I've recently moved out (last Saturday) and I'm attempting to become a grown-up *giggles* so I didn't have time to make this post or to do my nails... I don't have a stable internet connection so my posts may be delayed. Again, I'm sorry!

Last week's theme was Iulia's idea and, as you can see from the title, it's related to sea shells. I love sea shells and I had a cool idea on my mind, but packing and unpacking did not give me much free time to get creative. This is what I came up with:

Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 10. Stamping Decals

Hey there!

This week's challenge is Madalina's idea - stamping decals - and as you know from my previous post, some of my nails broke and I cut them all. I am unhappy with my little nub-nubs and my manicure isn't great either.

Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 9. Butterflies

Hey, hey!

Another late manicure is here! This time I don't have any excuse for not posting on time, except for my laziness... Or I could blame the hot weather... May I, may I? :D

Anyway, this week theme was Madalina's idea and it is one of my favorites from this collaboration - butterflies! ^_^
I love butterflies for their beautiful colors and soft wings. They brighten my day when I notice them in the garden or on the street and I remember that in my grandparents' back yard there was always this white butterfly that would appear each spring and sit on my grandfather's shoulder at some point during spring. I'm pretty sure there's some magic involved.

And here are my nails:

Nail Art Marathon - 8.Gradient

Hey there!

This week's post is a little late because I had some issues with my nails and other things, plus a very busy end of the week, but I managed to take some [bad] pictures of my manicure this evening.

The theme is one of my favorites - gradient - and was Madalina's idea. I use a lot of gradients as a background for my manicures but this time I tried to make it stand out a bit.

Nail Art Marathon - 7. Flowers

Hello everyone!
This week was a great week for me! I graduated from University, Law school, and I made a few new friends. I painted my nails in a way that matched my outfit for the last exam and Madalina's idea was really fit for this.

I have another idea for flowery nails, suggested by my lovely boyfriend but I will show that one to you later this month. :D

And now... my nails! ^_^

Nail Art Marathon - 6.Lead-light

Hey there!

This Saturday is all about bright colors in sheer tints!
Oana's idea for this week was to use the lead-light technique and I did it... my way! :P

Since I don't have any stamping plate that have a pattern that would allow coloring inside,  I chose to draw some balloons and fill them with colors, as a festive thing for my classmates' graduation.

Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 4. Palm trees

Hello! :D

Summer's here, the weather's nice and warm, and this week's theme, which was Oana's idea, fits in perfectly: Palm trees! :D
Wouldn't you like to be a on a sunny beach, under a palm tree, sipping a yummy cocktail and reading your favorite book? I know I would...

Anyway, since I can't be next to a palm tree right now, I'll settle for the ones on my nails:

Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 3. Glitter placement

Hey there!

This week we have another challenge from Vanyna - glitter placement! :D
I really like the idea of playing with glitter, but I don't have a lot of inspiration these days, so I went with something simple, matte and glittery at the same time. ^_^

I did spice it up with a few studs from Born Pretty Store, and I think it looks pretty good, in the end.

Glow in the dark nails - Essence Rock Out!! Top coat - review

Hello everyone!

Today I want to show you a manicure I wore for almost two weeks (11 days) because I loved it that much! It's one of the most fun and awesome manicures I've done in a while and I still can't bring myself to erase my nails. *blushes*

I recently acquired a new glow in the dark nail polish (actually, a top coat) from Essence, the "Rock out!!" collection, called "01 Biggest Fan" and I was thinking of a good way to use it.

The writing on the bottle says that the nails would get a milky touch from it, so, of course, I had to try it over a few different colors to see what the result looks like. It gives a gray-ish touch over a back nail polish, but it's barely noticeable over red, pink and light blue. Of course, it works best over a white base.

Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 3. Neon Nails

Hello!

It's Saturday Sunday and I'm going to show you this week's challenge, chosen by Vanyna - neon nails!

When I first saw the list of themes I thought "OMG! I need to start buying more polishes!" since I only remembered having two neon nail polishes. To my surprise, when I checked my collection, I noticed a lot of polishes I had forgotten all about (shame on me, neglecting my "babies" in such a way!). Finding so many neon colors gave me a new idea than what I had initially planned to do on my nails. Here is the result:

Nail Art Marathon - 2. Galaxy Nails

"Take me to your place in space
I'm simply tired of mad rage
On a rocket ship, no time to wait
I just want to gravitate"
~ Galaxy by WAR

Hello everyone! This week is a very "spacey" week since Andra Kat's second choice in the Nail Art Marathon is "galaxy nails".
I have tried this technique before and I loved it every time. It's dark enough to satisfy my "dark side" and bright/glittery enough to make my girly side go "weeee!". :D

Nail Art Marathon 2015 - 1. Favorite Nail Polish

Hello!

This week is a special week because we decided, together with the girls from the Polish Addicts group, to start a new collaboration, entitled "Nail Art Marathon 2015". :D
Why is it called this way? Well, without wanting to spoil it for you, I'm going to tell you that it will last till the end of the year. Yes, that's right, the last post will be on the last Saturday of December 2015. ^_^

Each of us (17 bloggers) came up with two ideas - one for a theme and one for technique - which will be posted separately in two consecutive weeks. Here is a banner with all the themes, in case you are curious:

This week we have one of Andra Kat's ideas, namely "Favorite Nail Polish". It was really hard for me to choose only one, so selected two polishes from two brands that I fancy - China Glaze  and O.P.I. and two types of nail polish - regular (shimmery) and textured. Of course, the colors are two of my favorites, as well. ^_^

Nail Team Challenge – Rock Style

Hello everyone!

This week I am going to show you the last manicure created during the Nail Team Challenge, one that represents me best and was Ana Maria's idea: rock style.
I define myself as a rocker because I mostly listen to rock music (my first choice when it comes to music) and my style is one assimilated to rock culture: mostly black clothes and rock/punk accessories. I know, you wouldn't think that after seeing my nails and the blog's theme. :))))

Anyway, since last week I showed you a studded manicure and studs are known o be a symbol of the rock style, today I wanted to present you something different - three of my favorite rock bands' logos.
